The moment Mr. Trump kissed Erika Kirk caused a storm online

The moment Mr. Trump kissed Erika Kirk caused a storm online President Donald Trump attracted attention when he invited Erika Kirk to come close to kiss her on the cheek during the swearing-in ceremony of the new US Ambassador to India on November 10 (local time), leading to many mixed comments.

The event took place when President Donald Trump attended the swearing-in ceremony of the US Ambassador to India at the White House on November 10 (local time). While greeting guests, Trump called Erika Kirk, the wife of the late businessman and political activist Charlie Kirk, to come over and kiss her on the cheek.

A video posted by the PatriotsTake account on the social network X shows the moment Kirk walks up to Mr. Trump, the two hold hands, he kisses her on the cheek and they both laugh and shake hands. However, this seemingly intimate action quickly attracted thousands of shares and comments on social networks.

Many users were annoyed when they thought that this moment was “awkward” and inappropriate in the context of official etiquette.

“It’s a horrible breath test,” commented one X user. Another account posted a series of photos compiling the times Mr. Trump kissed different women on the cheek, with the comment: “Add Erika Kirk to the long list of people who turn away because of Mr. Trump’s bad breath, including Melania (Trump).”

Some other comments show a deeper satire. “This scene looks like the world’s worst perfume ad: ‘Trump brand impeachment perfume’,” one person wrote.

The controversy surrounding Trump’s body odor is not new. Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger wrote on Platform X in December 2023 that he was “surprised that people close to Trump never talked about his smell,” and described it as “a truly incredible thing.”

Many social media users also questioned Erika Kirk’s presence at the ceremony. “Why is Erika Kirk in the Oval Office?” one person wrote. Even so, according to CNN, the guest list is entirely controlled by Mr. Trump and he can invite anyone he wants to such official events.
